Finally we made it to California! I have always wanted to head West, but besides a layover in San Fran, I have never visited. The prospect of getting a Coast to Coast medal sealed the deal. In grand Disney fashion, they have a program called Coast to Coast where you get a special medal if you run one Run Disney Half Marathon (or marathon) in Disney World (Princess for me) and another in Disneyland in the same calendar year.
We arrived around lunch time in Cali and everyone was starving to say the least. Before we even made it to our room, we hit the Grill.
I was happy to find a very filling salad that was made especially for me, allergy free!
We then headed to our theme park view room at California Paradise Pier Resort.
Nice and roomy, and with a gorgeous view that would prove to be much more appreciated at night with the World of Color show at California Adventure right out of our window!
The Disneyland Half Marathon Expo opened at Noon on Friday, and by the time we headed there at 2pm, the crowds died down. We got our bibs for the Cars Land Family 5K, my Half Marathon Bib and Coast to Coast wristband I had to wear until that medal was placed around my neck. I was also able to change from Corral C to Corral B by showing the proof of time I earned the previous weekend at the Crim 10 Mile – 1:38:01! Yea! The expo was in full swing, and the Disneyland Merchandise line was crazy long, but we did get to see a friend again and I got my bib signed. Mr. Galloway remembered us from the Disney Princess Expo and was happy the kids were running this race too!
After the expo, we headed to California Adventure to check it out! It was neat to explore a Disney property that we have never been to and we were in love! There were a ton of rides we wanted to do and so many things to see!
The California sun is so HOT! We were starving again around 5 and decided to head to the Disneyland Hotel to see if we could dine at SteakHouse 55 earlier than our reserved time of 6:30. There was about a 30 minute wait, so Pea and I headed back into the Expo while Daddy and Monkey hung out in the lounge area. The lines for the Disney merchandise were pretty much non-existent so I picked up a nice long sleeve jacket, 2 wine glasses, and a golf shirt for hubby. After that, we headed to InkNBurn where I got an awesome outfit (you will have to wait till the Half Marathon post to see) and 2 shirts for the kids. By that time, they were ready to seat us and we had a wonderful dinner. I was too exhausted to remember to take a photo and poor Monkey actually fell asleep at the table. It was an early night as we headed back to the room and were asleep by 8 to get our rest before the Cars Land 5K on Saturday.
